Privacy

CiteRX checks references, DOIs, URLs, and uploaded reference text so it can format APA citations and show whether a source appears to be real.

When you use live verification, the reference text or identifiers you submit may be sent from the CiteRX server to public metadata services such as DOI.org, CrossRef, DataCite, PubMed, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Open Library, HathiTrust, arXiv, CORE, Wikimedia Citoid, bioRxiv, or medRxiv. If an AI fallback key is configured, unverifiable references may also be checked through the configured AI provider.

Do not paste private, confidential, patient, student-record, legal, financial, or otherwise sensitive information into CiteRX. Use citation metadata only.

This prototype does not include user accounts, saved reference libraries, or analytics tracking. Production deployments should document any hosting logs, analytics, payment, email, or account systems that are added later.
